A Month's Gone By...

I have been a horrible blogger-updater lately! Bad, bad me! We've been sooo busy lately that I just haven't been able to sit down and blog. I promise I will try and be better...I said try! So what's been keeping the Spencers so busy you ask? Let me go back and look at my calendar because I can't even remember what I had for breakfast let alone what we did a month ago...

Oh yes...It's all coming back to me...

Taya our star swimmer had another year of swim lessons with Ms. Ashley, the best swim teacher ever BTW. Our first lesson was not so fun, Taya panicked a bit and to see her you would never have known the girls been in the pool since she was 8 months old. Lesson 2 was even worse, crying, clinging to my arm, almost pulling me into the pool with her, begging me to never take her back crying for Daddy! But somewhere in there between Lesson 2 and Lesson 3 there was a revelation...she suddenly LOVED to swim, realized that you swim better when you aren't spazzing out and begged to stay in the pool when the lesson was over. By the end of her lessons she was swimming across the pool, diving, learning the breaststroke and actually loving it!

On July 25th we went down to Escondido for Aunt Pam's 50th surprise birthday party! That was so much fun! We pilled into the 4Runner with Grandma wedged in the backseat between the two ginormous Britax car seats on our way down the road to Aunt Wendy's house. Grandma bought the girls these really cool activity sets for the car that were magnetic so pieces wouldn't go flying all over the car...haha...good idea Grandma but by the time we even got to Bakersfield magnets were everywhere...I changed Saree's diaper and you guessed it...even in there...I'm pretty sure those pieces never made it back into the car. So after the long car ride to Escondido we were able to relax, sneak in a trip to Nordstroms all while keeping it a secret that we were just 2 minutes from Pam's house. For those of you who have no clue...Pam and Wendy live 2 minutes away and you have to drive past Pams to get to Wendys...so that was hard. Saturday was Pams party, we cleaned, we decorated and we waited...finally Pam arrived! She was SO surprised, had no idea we were there, let alone about 40 others! It was a great time to visit and celebrate Aunt Pam and the blessing she is to our family! We love you Aunt Pam...50's just a number you are fabulous at 50!

Unfortunately Aunt Sherry and Uncle Garry weren't able to make it to Pam's party, but we were able to see them the following weekend when they rented a cabin up at Bass Lake. And let me let you Bass Lake is absolutely gorgeous!!! The trees, the water, the air, it was fabulous! We went up Saturday afternoon...only would have taken us an hour to get there but...yeah let's not talk about that...we arrived and that's all that matters and we saw every inch of the lake in the meantime! The cabin was great, we had a view of the lake, the girls had their own bedroom and actually slept (that's always a challenge when we're away from home!), we had a great time playing Scrabble and using words that we don't know how to spell but we all agreed that it looked right only to be told by the men pool "que" is spelled "cue"! But we all agreed so we kept the points. Taya we found out is a pool shark, she loved playing pool and once Uncle Garry showed her how she was running the table. We all agreed we need a Humphrey-Grant-Zuker-Guenaga-Spencer-Nims family cabin for more fun times with the entire family...and those that know the Humphrey's know that will get pretty loud....feel sorry for the neighboring cabins!

In addition to our weekend adventures we finally after 6 years of living in our brand new home...painted our bathroom and bedroom. Why we waited so long I don't know, but it's actually nice to spend time in there now. I find myself cleaning my room everyday! Amazing isn't it! So next time you're over you better take a peek, I promise it'll be clean!

So if you haven't heard the big news I don't know where you've been, you've had a whole month to read my blog top to bottom with no new news so by now you should know that August 25th Miss Taya will start Kindergarten!!!!!!!!!!!! She is so excited that she gets to go everyday, instead of just 3 days like she does at preschool. Her starting Kindergarten is kind of bitter-sweet, we are going to miss her teachers so much. Ms. Michelle and Ms. Nancy have been amazing, I am so thankful that she had such awesome teachers that we're the perfect match for her. We are very excited for little Miss Saree to be in their class in a couple years...she's already on the waiting list 2 years ahead of time!!! I can't even plan what we are having for dinner tomorrow night, luckily the staff at her preschool is amazing and made sure we got on the list.

We have birthdays coming up soon! Saree will be 2 on August 29th and Taya will be 5 on September 7th!! I can't believe my babies are growing up so fast! Soon I won't even have to buy diapers anymore! Wow, what to do with all that extra money!?!? College fund? So we have their combined party on September 6th, same place as last year of course. Pump It Up is the way to go! I asked Taya several times where she wanted to have it; Home, Pump It Up, Chuck E. Cheese or go to Disneyland...each time I asked it was different. Finally I said I have to know one last time and you can't change your mind...so Pump It Up it is! It's fun, it's easy and they do everything for you, what more could you want as a Mom! The less I have to do the better! And well, poor Saree just gets whatever Big Sis decides because well...second child syndrome I guess. I hope to keep their birthday's combined as long as possible, I can't imagine two birthday parties for girls who's birthday fall 9 days apart...poor planning on our part I guess!

So as you can see we have been very busy and there's no end in sight, but I wouldn't have it any other way!  Soon Taya will be starting soccer and I will really truly be a "Soccer Mom"!!! Can't wait for that..she will have her 2 biggest fans there cheering her on every step of the way. And Saree I'm sure will run onto the field at least 7 times during a game, but hey, that's my Ree-Ree!

It's so amazing to watch them grow, watch them interact as sisters and best-friends, both are so lovable and kissable and I don't ever want that to end, we are so blessed by the amazing love our family shares. We are so thankful each day for each other and those we love around us, all too often things as I know, and each of you I'm sure know, in a blink of an eye can be turned upside down and backwards and it's those around you that love you that make it all worth while. Our kids are the greatest gift and we are enjoying watching them grow into little ladies, good thing the aging process takes a while we are so not ready for the teenage years!
