Spring Breakin Twenty-Eleven

We just returned from THE BEST little beach trip! We had such a great time, everything was perfect...except Jeremy failing to apply sunscreen (bad, bad boy, you'd never know he was married to an Esthetician!)!!! He's still feeling the affects, (or is it effects? ahhh i'm usually good with that, this time has me stumped!) of our vacation today! On our way we stopped in San Luis Obispo to take the girls to Bubblegum Alley, we all left our mark with "cupcake gumballs" and were on our way (and for the record I was a tad grossed out). We decided to stay somewhere new...not our usual Avila spot. I found a nice little place between Pismo and Shell Beach that was right on the ocean...each room is ocean front with a balcony...can't beat that, but we were a little leery, those Expedia pics can make a roach motel look nice!! Upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised...it was nice, not 5 star but the balcony and view made up for the spider we killed in the bathroom! We dropped our bags and immediately went out exploring, and found the hotels own private beach! Can you say AWESOME!!!!!!!! It was literally a beach to ourselves...perfect in every way! We spent the evening exploring, then went to dinner with Jeremy's Dad and Aunt Marje. The next day we enjoyed our breakfast with a super annoying obnoxious 9 year old boy who's dad was constantly talking on his iPhone, but that wasn't going to bring us down...we were heading to Avila for a day of lounging on the beach...our only concern for the day was what to eat for lunch, and well since we were in Avila...no doubt it was Custom House. Yum! We also went to the Avila Valley Barn...a new favorite and a definite must see! After a full day on the beach building sandcastles, digging in the sand, playing in the freezing water we headed back to our "private" beach to explore the tide pools, so cool! Then we were ready for dinner...F.McLintocks! and oh my word...YUMMMMY! All these years of us traveling to Pismo, Avila, Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, SLO, Morro Bay, you get the idea we have never tried McLintocks, weird I know. We are so glad we did, it was delicious! And the after dinner liquor was delish...I think it was called an tan ferrari...or something...I'm sure it's spelled some fancy-dancy way but that's how I remember the name. After we were fat and happy it was time to go night swimming back at the hotel..the girls loved it, in fact that may have been their most favorite part of our entire trip! It was a perfect way to wipe them out completely and we all slept sooo good! The next day we explored Old Port San Luis, saw the sea lions, bought a little souvenir from our usual spot and then headed to Grover Beach for our favorite little Mexican restaurant, Me & Z's...once again stuffed our bellies and then headed home. :( We decided to stop and Tobin James Cellars on the way and oh aren't we glad we did...we could have stayed all afternoon, it was fabulous and is definitely another new favorite and a regular stop! They had me at free games for the kids while we taste-tested wines...for FREE! Score!
All in all we had a super-duper-fabulous time! I loved every minute of it! :)

Here's a few of our favorite pics...I'll spare you all 251 of them, but if you want to see them all I'd be happy to send you a link...heehee
